Your Watch Is an Investment — Treat It Like One
A luxury watch is more than an accessory. It's a statement, a companion, and for many, a piece that gets passed down through generations. With the right care, your Chris Haris watch will look and perform beautifully for years to come. Here's everything you need to know.
1. Clean It Regularly
Dust, sweat, and everyday grime can dull even the most stunning watch. Here's how to clean yours safely:
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the case and strap after each wear.
- For stainless steel straps, a slightly damp cloth works well — just make sure to dry it thoroughly afterwards.
- Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cloths that can scratch the case or damage the finish.
- For the glass, a microfibre cloth is your best friend.
2. Respect the Water Resistance Rating
Water resistance is not the same as waterproof. Here's what the ratings on your Chris Haris watch mean:
- 3-ATM: Splash and rain resistant. Avoid submerging — remove before washing hands or swimming.
- 5-ATM: Suitable for swimming and light water activities. Not suitable for diving or high-pressure water jets.
Also note: water resistance can degrade over time, especially if the crown (the small knob on the side) is not fully pushed in. Always ensure the crown is secured before any contact with water.
3. Store It Properly
When you're not wearing your watch, storage matters:
- Keep it in its original Chris Haris box or a dedicated watch case to protect it from dust and scratches.
- Avoid storing near magnets (speakers, laptops, phone chargers) as magnetic fields can affect the movement's accuracy.
- Store away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, which can affect the strap and seals.
4. Wind and Set It Correctly
For watches with a manual or automatic movement, proper winding is important:
- Never over-wind — stop as soon as you feel resistance.
- Set the time by pulling the crown out gently and turning it smoothly. Avoid setting the date between 9pm and 3am as this can damage the date mechanism on some movements.
5. Service It Periodically
Even the finest movements need occasional servicing. As a general rule:
- Have your watch inspected every 3–5 years by a qualified watchmaker.
- If you notice the watch running fast or slow, bring it in sooner.
- Remember: all Chris Haris watches come with a 1-year warranty on the movement mechanism, so you're covered for the first year.
6. Handle the Strap with Care
Your strap takes the most daily wear and tear. For stainless steel mesh straps like those on the ATHENA and MARQUESA:
- Rinse occasionally with fresh water if exposed to saltwater or sweat.
- Use the quick-release mechanism gently to avoid bending the pins.
- Polish with a soft cloth to maintain the shine.
